Scarce.
Dry open woodland on acid soil, heathland, grassland, occurring mainly in certain localities in the south-east of England.

Became established in the Brecks in the mid 1980s where first recorded at Caston in 1986, with scattered records in the 80s and 90s. After a dip during the 2000s, has been recorded in low numbers annually in the Brecks post 2010.

Possible immigrant records at coastal sites. Recorded at a two coastal localities in 2014 when several specimens were taken at Barrow Common near Brancaster (NMS, 31/05/14) and a VC27 first at Eccles (N. Bowman, 03/06/14)

Recorded at Dersingham Bog and again at Barrow Common in 2022.

Recorded in 11 (15%) of 74 10k Squares.
